The Power of Silence

Our ability to hear what is in our hearts and discover the silent, clear purity that dwells within the soul depends on our ability to silence the chattering of our minds. We are carried into the solitude of our first state of existence by spiritual love. All relationships can be brought into harmony and maintained by this stillness, which also possesses the tenderness needed to do so. We can allow God to enter our hearts and minds and fill us with his strength, serenity, and love when we are silent.

What you give out, you get back, or what goes around, comes around, is a proverb that we have all heard. But we fail to remember this universal law, which is as firm as a rock. In all realms of existence — physical, mental, and spiritual — energy is always moving. And if we take a step back and just watch, we can see it moving during the interaction. We give and receive energy in the framework of our relationships, and harmony and balance result when this exchange of energy is genuine and positive. However, when we take and hold onto things as we are taught to, we upset the harmony and balance in our lives. We give life to the idea of ownership, which obstructs the reality when we say that possession is nine-tenths of the law. Our endeavor to disobey the law is possession itself, and this delusion is at the root of all human suffering, discomfort, and discord. We have nothing, even though many “things” will come to us.

When we say to one another, “You can’t take that with you when you go,” we are intuitively acknowledging this. Do you?


Message for the day

Possessing the desire to change is the first step in bringing about change.

What it tells you: Nothing can ever change if justifications are made for not making changes. There is little desire to change, and blame is constantly placed on other people and circumstances. Instead, initiative and commitment are there when there is a willingness to assume the burden of enacting change. As a result, efforts are made, and the desired change is successful.

What you should experience: If I keep blaming others, I won’t make the necessary changes; instead, I’ll keep looking for ways to get out of it. But if I do, I discover that the problem will either arise with someone else or in a different circumstance. I find that changing myself is the easiest thing to do. When I want to do something, I find it happens quickly, and help also comes from outside.
