Why Do We Have Challenging Relationship With Money?

Whether we accept it or not, most of us need money, and we love having lots of money, but we continue to have a challenging relationship with it. We continue to feel a scarcity of money or are unable to create a loving relationship with it. This happens because of the way we earn it or the way we welcome it in our lives. It’s not only about earning but how we spend it is also unhealthy. If we are earning or spending money in unhealthy ways, how can we expect a good relationship with it? Whatever we are doing to make money — job, business, teaching, coaching, etc., if we are not happy with the process, i.e., the job itself, how can we expect a healthy end result?

The mistake most of us make is — We hate our jobs, are not willing to do it with joy or a happy mood, always do it with a cribbing attitude, don’t do it with honesty, and do it just for the paycheck. All our stress and hatred towards our job sums up and are reflected back to us in the form of money. I won’t exaggerate if I say that all our sufferings and negative feelings about our work are embedded in the act of getting money. So when we get our paycheck, we are hesitant to spend our hard-earned money. We recall the frustration, hard work, and stress we went through in the process of earning it, and, eventually, we end up fearing losing our money. We don’t even realize that our negative attitude toward our job is causing this fear of losing money. As a result, whenever we think about money, a chain of feelings emerges from our minds, and we start feeling stressed, painful or irritated. Then we start cursing and blaming our money for not having enough and attracting these feelings of frustration.

If we closely examine the scenario, we’ll find that all these feelings of frustration and fear of losing money originated from doing the job we dislike. If we are forcing and pushing ourselves hard to do the job we don’t like, it’s obvious that we won’t allow the money to go without a damn good reason. We try to make all the possible efforts to keep our money with us and not waste it for any simple reason. In fact, we feel irritated or become sad when we see our hard-earned money going away from us. If it’s becoming hard to earn money, it becomes harder to let it go. Also, this idea has been put into our minds by our parents since childhood — We should not waste our money. We have programmed our minds that if money is going away from us, that means we are wasting it. These memories suddenly pop up in the form of fear and stop us from spending more than necessary. And if we had to pay for something, we resent that.

These feelings of fear keep us busy thinking about how much money is left over, how much more to earn, how much to save, etc. These feelings are really not good for us. They can harm us in many ways, and sometimes situations can turn so bad that people don’t even think twice before hurting themselves or committing any sinful actions.

So, if the relationship with money is so fearful, what about the happy, prosperous people around us? Do you know any person who is happy and prosperous? Can you please name that person?

So, what do all happy and prosperous people think about money? What do they feel or think while doing their business or work? What kind of relationship do they have with their money?

You will be amazed by knowing that they have totally different thinking and attitudes toward money in every aspect. They do the work they love and love what they do. There is no feeling of hatred or cribbing attitude toward the work they do. They earn money doing things they love to do and bring them joy — and that love and joy beget love and joy. They always express gratitude for what they have, give respect to others, value their time, and enjoy every moment. They don’t have the idea of wasting money while giving it to others. This means that when they spend, they spend it with joy, happiness, and confidence. You could easily figure out that stress or fear is not a part of their lifestyle equation at all.

Happy and abundant people have the confidence to make enough when needed. They never worry when money goes away. That’s why they are not stressed, anxious, or fearful about their future. They always have a positive attitude towards money. They don’t work for money; money starts working for them!
